Bachelor’s Dissertation
I obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southampton in 2016, and part of this included writing a dissertation focused on the period of English History known as the Wars of the Roses.
I chose to focus on violence, specifically how instances of violence were viewed by contemporary figures. The dissertation involves an evaluation of contemporary sources, as well as secondary sources, to paint a picture of exactly how the medieval English viewed acts of great violence in society.
Master’s Dissertation
A year after completing my Bachelor’s Degree, I obtained a Master’s Degree from King’s College London. This time, I was writing about the recruitment strategies employed by various commanders between the First Crusade in 1095 and 1150.
I was particularly interested in how those strategies changed over time, and examined how these strategies can be broken down into three basic motivators; Gold, Glory, and God.
